The
winner received a brand new luxury house valued at Rs. 20 million. The
second placed contestant Corporal Nadish Saranga of the Sri Lanka Army was
presented with the key of a gleaming brand new Toyota "Yaris" car
worth of Rs. 6.7 million with Rs. 1 million in cash and a trophy. The
third and fourth places went to the Corporal Chaminda Kumara and Corporal Manoj
Perera of Sri Lanka Army respectively and the fifth place was secured by Able
Musician Danuka Rajapaksa of Sri Lanka Navy. They were also awarded with
valuable cash prizes, LED (HD) T.V sets, Dialog Satellite Connections and
trophies. Maj. Saliya Jayawardene was awarded a special gift for his
outstanding performance. Moreover, competitors who secured
positions from 6th place to 36th place were also awarded special prizes.
The
widely popular "Ranaviru Real Star" is aimed at the bringing
out the hidden musical talents of war heroes. The Mission 1 and 11 which were
staged earlier proved to be one of the most popular reality shows in the
country and this one proved to be even more popular among the viewers.
The panels of judges were comprised of renowned personalities involved in
the local music field namely, Visharada Edward Jayakody, Jakson Anthony and
Yashoda Wimaladarma who contributed 60 percent in selecting of winners. The
rest 40 percent was allowed public to decide upon their SMS. Over 8.49 million
SMSs poured in as it showed in the projection screens showed the popularity of
the show among the masses.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa, the
Secretary of Defence Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Mrs. Ioma Rajapaksa, Chief of the Defence Staff,
Three forces Commanders and
renowned artists were among the distinguished invitees present at the final
show.
